7 Important Tips on Investigating a Business Opportunity

!!! Get In On the Ground Floor!!! We’ll Build Your Downline
Using Our Unique Spillover System that Guarantees an Income of
OVER $5000 EVERY WEEK! HURRY! THIS IS A LIMITED TIME OFFER!

Give me a break.

We’d all be millionaires if claims like the one above were true.
If you’re looking for a business opportunity on the web where
scams feed on the dreams and weaknesses of everyday people, the
thing to remember is to *take your time*. Good opportunities
don’t disappear overnight.

To investigate an opportunity, check out the following:

__Do You Know EXACTLY What You’ll Be Doing?

Have you ever read over a business opportunity and at the end of
the article you think, ‘But what am I SELLING?’

You’re not alone. There are endless opportunities touted online
as being the cream of the crop, the best of the best, the
ultimate money-making opportunity destined to give you the
freedom and flexibility you desire.

They just don’t tell you HOW.

Don’t send money for more information. If they’re not upfront
about what’s involved in their opportunity, then run the other
way and don’t look back.

__Can You Independently Find Others Who Are Successful?

Message boards are a fabulous source of first-hand information
from people who have been there, done that. Ask for other
people’s experiences with an opportunity before you join. If you
can find a number of people who have had good experiences,
that’s great. If you can’t, and all you hear are negative
comments, then learn from them: even if you doggedly pursue it
and find one positive testimonial, it won’t mean much if you’ve
heard 20 other negative comments.

__How Long Has the Opportunity Been Around?

New opportunities don’t yet have a history of success. There is
no way of knowing how well the average person will do with them.

Don’t worry about ‘getting in on the ground floor’; it’s far
better to have a solid history that shows a viable business
opportunity.

__Are You Selling an Opportunity or a Product?

When the focus is on earning income by signing up others, you’re
part of what’s known as a ‘pyramid scheme’. To be brief: they’re
illegal.

Every opportunity should allow you to earn an decent income by
selling a product or service to customers. If it focuses
primarily on recruitment, reconsider.

__Are Claims and Testimonials Verifiable?

Is contact information provided so that you can verify a
testimonial? Can you find people who actually make what the
opportunity claims you can make?

Don’t take income claims too seriously. Everyone’s different,
and although one person may think it’s a perfect opportunity, it
might not be for YOU. A blanket statement of ‘You can make up to
$5000 a month or more’ can be safely ignored. A statement of
AVERAGE earnings is more useful.

Exercise caution if an opportunity ‘guarantees’ that you can
make money. How could they possibly know? It is completely
beyond their control; it’s your efforts, your skills, and your
motivation that determine whether or not you’ll make money.

__How’s the Service?

One thing I like to do is ask a bunch of questions by email or
phone (they DO have contact information posted, right?). If they
answer me quickly, courteously, and in detail, that’s another
point for them. Emails that are ignored or phone calls not
returned are a bad sign; if they treat YOU that way, how do they
treat the rest of their customers? Why are they hiding?

But keep in mind that just because they may answer your emails
or phone calls, that does NOT necessarily mean that they’re
‘legit’.

__Does the Opportunity Fit YOUR Interests?

There’s no point in doing something you hate (heck, some of us
left JOBS that we hated - we don’t need to start a business that
we also hate!). For example, if you would rather dig out a tooth
with a butter knife than sell face- to-face, then don’t join a
Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) opportunity. If you love talking to
people, look into something like party planning, children’s book
sales, etc. If you’re the quiet, shy type, look for
opportunities that will allow you to work nose-to-nose with your
computer most of the time. You get the idea.

Sure, it’s time-consuming to do all this investigative work. But
it’s a necessity: prudence and planning now may pay off by
saving you money and frustration later.

There’s simply no such thing as a simple ‘business in a box’.
However, there are many legitimate opportunities, both from
other companies and those of your own dreams. Happy huntin

Helping Your Kid’s Grow a Garden

Start some gardening traditions with your kids. Give them their own garden patch and a spot to dig. Children love getting their hands dirty and watching things grow.

Be sure to buy good quality, child sized gardening tools. Plastic toy versions just won’t hold up to the task. You will also need children’s gloves and a watering can.

Mark off the garden area and turn the soil. Kids can help break up any lumps with their hands. Work in some organic compost.

Choose seeds that will grow quickly. Small children get impatient if their plants take too long to sprout. Radishes, Snapdragons, Cosmos, and Sunflowers will all germinate quickly. Carrots and strawberries are also easy to grow– and yummy to eat.

Large seeds like beans and Morning Glories are easy for small fingers to push into the ground. You can start your seeds indoors in an eggshell carton. When the seedlings are an inch high, tear off the egg carton, and leaving the soil intact, transplant the seedlings outside.

Or, try placing beans on a wet paper towel inside a zip top bag. Tape the bag to a sunny window and wait for the seeds to germinate. I can remember, as a child, checking my beans every morning before school. The first shoots appeared to my delight and we carefully transplanted the beans outdoors.

Make garden markers by painting small rocks. This will help kids keep track of their selections.

Make it fun!
Grow a sunflower house by planting the sunflowers in a circle with a space in the middle big enough for your kids to hide. Be sure to leave room for a door.

Grow a spaghetti garden. Plant herbs such as basil, oregano, rosemary, and parsley. My kids love to snip fresh herbs. They stuff their pockets full of scented “spaghetti” herbs.

Share your garden with butterflies and hummingbirds. Zinnias, Verbena, and Cosmos are butterfly favorites. Hummingbirds love the nectar from Nasturtium and Lantana, and Hollyhocks.

Children love to pick up bugs and worms. Poke holes in the top of an old jar. Add some dirt and a few, new found specimens. Be sure to release the critters back into nature after a few hours.

Arm your kids with cameras to take photos throughout the summer. They will enjoy remembering the fruits of their labor. And, the pictures will help your budding gardener plan for next year.

Happy planting. And, don’t forget to pick a few bouquets for mom.

Jalapeno Pepper Hot Sauce - The Mexican Connection

Mexico brings to our mind nachos, the sombrero, the Spanish guitar and who could forget the hot favorite (well literally), Jalapeno? The Jalapeno pepper hot sauce has quite conquered borders with its blasted taste and lingering feeling. The Jalapeno chilli pepper can be both a luscious green and a bloody red, with the latter being a much milder variety and the Jalapeno pepper hot sauce is an accompaniment to many a snack.

The Jalapeno chilli is actually a pepper holding close relations to the capsicum. However, in comparison to other chilli peppers an amazing thing is discovered, its heat level varies according to its growth and preparation procedure. The name Jalapeno itself comes from the city Xalapa in Veracruz, which is the traditional home turf of these chillies. Apart from this place many other regions in Mexico too are dedicated for this purpose.

Go for a Jalapeno hot sauce if you are the one for tangy, acidic sensation swirling your taste buds. It is prized for the hot, burning sensation that it produces in the mouth when eaten. It is actually a cultivar of the species Capsicum annuum. The distinctive difference between a Jalapeno Hot Sauce and other hot sauces, well, yes, you have guessed it, is Jalapeno.

Only a few amongst those who are fond of the Jalapeno pepper hot sauce are aware of the source of the hot flavor of this sauce. Though there are conflicts in views, most people have the same opinion that the heat is generated, due to capsaicin and related compounds. These are caused by the seeds and veins and if they are removed, the heat vanishes too.

In comparison with other chile peppers, the jalapeno has a heat level that varies from mild to hot depending on how it was grown and how it was prepared. Most sources agree that the heat, due to capsaicin and related compounds, is concentrated in the seeds and the veins - i.e., deseeding and deveining can considerably reduce the heat imparted to a Jalapeno hot sauce. The Jalapeno sauces rate between 2500 and 8000 Scoville units in heat and have a characteristic acidic taste.

Jalapeno pepper is the most widely taken chili pepper in USA. Sauces made from the Jalapeno pepper bear the unique flavor of Mexico. The different ingredients used in the sauce make it tangy and lip smacking. For instance, the “Mad Dog Green Amigo Hot Sauce” is blended with fresh squeezed limejuice, garlic and sweet onions, which is just perfect for dipping the chicken wings. Whereas the “Pure Jalapeno” sauce is just a basic Jalapeno extract blended perfectly with salt and sugar. These are best for marinating the pork.

Jalapeno Pepper Hot Sauce is undoubtedly the best culinary addition to chicken, fish or steak.

Atomic Clocks

Time waits for no man. Keeping this mind, we set about inventing clocks to synchronize ourselves with lunar cycles. It was an impressive leap, beginning some 10,000 years ago when the Egyptians came up with sundials in 2100 BC. Sundials, or shadow clocks, first used by Sumerians, worked on the premise of measuring the length of shadows to deduce time of day. Weather played spoilsport as on cloudy days, and when the months changed, shadows would not correspond with the markings. The Romans tried to do better by pilfering Cleopatra’s Needles, the tools used by Egyptians, but had to be content with town criers announcing the changing time. Around 325 BC, the water clock followed sundials; a water clock was basically a bucket of water with a hole in bottom to record slipping time but not hours. Various contraptions and models followed, ultimately resulting in clocks.

The word clock has its genesis in French word “”cloche,”" meaning bell. The first clock used weights to move gears, which in turn moved the hands. The one problem was that someone had to reset the weights until weight was propped by an oscillating horizontal bar attached to vertical spindle with protrusions to act as diversions. Soon, springs replaced weights, reducing the size of the clocks that could be carried, kept on a mantelpiece, or hung as wall clocks. Mechanical clocks and watches gave way to electronic timepieces with quartz crystal, later to be surpassed by atomic clocks.

Accuracy is the hallmark of atomic clocks, which are turning out to be more reliable and uniform when compared with time deduced by the rotation of earth. Atomic clocks operate by measuring the resonant frequency of a given atom i.e., Cesium, Hydrogen, or Mercury, increasing exactness more than a billionth of a second per day. It is this accurateness that has made atomic clocks more dependable as alarm clocks for domestic, scientific, or public functions.

Time Investment: What’s Your ROI?

I am often asked to conduct workshops on the topic of “time management.” Go in any bookstore and you’ll see what a hot topic this is. It seems that people are seeking the 10 Easy Steps to Time Management. A recent search on Google yielded 716 million hits from “time management!” Many people perceive they do not enough time in a day to accomplish everything. How many times have you heard (or thought!) “I wish I had a 36 hour day!”

Recently, in preparation for another time management presentation, I started thinking about “investing” time versus “spending” time. An investment provides a return. Something spent is used-up, worn out, expended, or exhausted. When applied to time, I want to invest my time and not spend it. The return may not be immediate, but long-lasting and enduring. We only have the moment we are in and then it is gone forever; do I spend it or invest it? What is the return I want? What are the benefits when I invest my time wisely as opposed to spending it or using it?

In order to invest time, I must realize I have choices to make. Do I really have a choice? What about all those things that have to be done? I have bills to pay, kids to raise, parents to take care of, etc! Challenge your thinking to consider what options do you have? What is preferable - at this time? There doesn’t ever seem to be a “perfect” time - just now. We make a multitude of choices in a day, seemingly unconscious decisions at times. Choosing not to decide is making an equally powerful choice. What would my life look like if I made choices throughout the day based on investing in what matters most to me?

What choices will you make today to invest your gift of time?
